What Is V-Beam?
V-Beam is a laser used to treat facial redness, flushing, and telangiectasia.
While conventional lasers react to black melanin pigment, the V-Beam laser is designed to react to red pigment. As a result, it targets hemoglobin (red blood cells) in the bloodstream, and may be effective for treating red birthmarks and facial redness.
V-Beam treatment also offers the following additional features.
Improvements in fine lines and skin texture, as well as increased skin firmness and radiance, may also be expected.
This is because the treatment can activate fibroblasts—cells responsible for skin elasticity and vitality—and may promote collagen production.
The built-in cooling system helps reduce skin stress and discomfort during treatment.
The surrounding healthy tissue is largely unaffected.
Introducing “V-Beam Prima,” the Latest Model in the V-Beam Series
V-Beam Prima is a 595 nm long-pulsed dye laser designed to treat port-wine stains, infantile hemangiomas, and telangiectasia. First introduced to the Japanese market in 1992 as the “SPTL-1,” the device has since evolved through to the “V-Beam II,” and V-Beam Prima represents the latest model in this lineage of pulsed dye lasers. Compared with the previous “V-Beam II,” it enables laser irradiation with a larger spot size and higher output.
Our clinic previously used the “V-Beam II,” but in response to patient feedback, we have upgraded to the latest model, “V-Beam Prima.”
The treatment fees remain unchanged, so you can receive the most up-to-date V-Beam treatment available.

What Are Facial Redness, Flushing, and Telangiectasia?
Facial Redness and Flushing
Facial redness is often caused by telangiectasia of the facial blood vessels—particularly around the nose. When not properly diagnosed, it may be treated with topical agents or vitamin supplements under the assumption that it is rosacea, seborrheic eczema, seborrheic dermatitis, or atopic dermatitis.
Telangiectasia
Telangiectasia refers to the dilation of capillaries in the dermal layer of the skin, causing increased blood flow compared to normal and resulting in redness of the skin.
Telangiectasia is sometimes classified into the following five types.

How V-Beam Treatment Works: Step by Step
① Book an Appointment

② Consultation and Assessment
We assess the condition of your skin and determine whether laser treatment is appropriate for you.
③ Anesthesia
During the laser procedure, you may feel a sensation similar to the snap of a rubber band.
④ Treatment
V-Beam laser treatment is performed. (※ Please remove any makeup and sunscreen before laser irradiation.)
⑤ Post-Treatment Care
Leave the treated area as it is on the day of treatment. Bathing is permitted from the day after laser irradiation; however, please avoid very hot water and rubbing the skin vigorously.

Side Effects (Downtime) of V-Beam Treatment
Swelling
Mild swelling may occur for a few days to approximately one week following treatment.
Redness and Discomfort
Mild discomfort may be present for a few hours to approximately two days after treatment. If the treated area becomes red or feels like a stinging sensation, cooling with an ice pack or similar can help relieve symptoms. If inflammation is more pronounced, we will prescribe a topical agent, so please don’t hesitate to let us know.
Bruising (Purpura)
Bruising generally subsides within approximately one to two weeks; however, higher-intensity treatment may result in purpura around the eyes or other areas. Patients taking antiplatelet medications or similar drugs should be aware that bruising may be more likely to occur.
Blisters and Scabbing
In rare cases involving very intense irradiation, the original redness may react more strongly than expected. Topical agents will be prescribed as appropriate to manage symptoms, so please follow post-treatment care instructions carefully to help prevent post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation
Japanese skin types are generally more prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Depending on individual skin characteristics, laser treatment may sometimes lead to hyperpigmentation following inflammation.
